Having been a competitive cheerleader and softball player throughout high school, along with pursuing half-marathon running in college, Andi was always on the lookout for ways to stay active. She has always enjoyed doing hard things on purpose, it wasn’t until 2013 when she discovered CrossFit that the void was truly filled. The incredible community and effective strength training coaching proved to be life-changing, leading Andi to become a CrossFit coach in 2014.
The pursuit of strength became addicting and in 2016 she began training exclusively in powerlifting. With dedicated training, she achieved multiple national medals before embracing motherhood in 2020. During pregnancy and early motherhood, Andi recognized the lack of guidance for new and expecting mothers in navigating strength training and exercise. Motivated to make a difference, she pursued certification in this area to empower and tailor exercise programs for mothers during these vulnerable stages of life.
Professionally, Andi provides mental health counseling to adolescents and adults, firmly believing that exercise is a powerful tool to support mental health. At Blackbird, Andi loves that athletes are encouraged and appropriately supported to intentionally tackle challenges, be part of a supportive community, and discover their untapped potential. She holds the conviction that what is practiced in the gym not only builds physical strength but also extends to everyday life. Andi is passionately committed to helping individuals discover both their physical AND inner strength, and is excited to contribute to the Blackbird team’s mission!
